January Workshop - Pillowcases!!!

Our home school young ladies were at it again today.  This time stitching pillowcases!  Emma, Deborah, Chiara and Linda (one of the moms) took a quick lesson on how to make a rolled pillowcase. By the time the workshop was done we had six pillowcases completed, 1 quilt top finished and another quilt top with just a few more borders to put on.  The sewing machines were humming for the whole 3 1/2 hours!!  I was impressed!

January Deliveries!!

We decided to make a couple deliveries this month.  With the help of Ellen and our pre-teen quilt makers, Deborah and Emma (and their siblings) we delivered 18 quilts to the AAMC Pediatrics and NICU units.  Next stop was the YWCA to drop off 9 quilts for the Arden Safe House for kids who are victims of domestic violence.  "Many of the women and children arrive in the middle of the night with just the clothes on their backs. They need many items to make them feel clean, secure and at home." Thanks to all who made these beautiful quilts so kids could feel comfort in their time of need!  You all are awesome!!!

 Delivering quilts to the YWCA (for the Arden Safe House)

We will be working on another project at our next workshop, Jan 19th @ BACC from 9:30am - 1pm. I will be demonstrating how to make rolled pillowcases. We will be delivering these to kids in need. Kits will be available at the workshop or you can bring your own fabric. December Workshop

We had a great workshop today and welcomed two beginner quilters - 12 year old twins! We also had three of our regular preteen quilters working on their quilts plus Ellen and Tamie sewed labels and put kits together. A young man delivered four quilts from Rebecca and Carla dropped off 25 quilts from the Annapolis Quilt Guild. We hope to make a couple deliveries in January to the Anne Arundel Medical Center Pediatrics and NICU as well as to a local women's safe house. Next workshop is January 19th!

November "3rd Saturday" Workshop

The homeschooling quilters are back!!  It was so good to see them again!  They brought in some of their finished quilts as well as working on current ones.  We also had two of our newest quilters return again this month.  Great to have Ellen and Nanci working side-by-side, sharing design inspirations and showing us their completed projects!

Quilts for Long Island!

We mailed six quilts we had waiting for homes to the Long Island chapter after their recent devastation from Hurricane Sandy.  Hope to send more next week!!

October 3rd Saturday Worshop

We had eight ladies on Saturday with a wide spectrum of skill levels.  What a great chance to learn as well as share what we know!! There were a few ladies who brought in quilts already made. Thank you Melinda, Roberta and Nancy!! We had a free motion quilting demonstration plus we all were either putting together kits or starting a quilt.  Two ladies are not shown here but we greatly appreciate their participation!!  Thank you Tamie and Rebecca!!! Next month we will have a Show and Tell in addition to another demonstration on how to bind a quilt!

Our quilt stock is piling up so we would like to make a delivery before Christmas! We'll let you know when we decide on a date.

New Workshops and Charity Drive!!

Lots of things beginning this fall . . .

We will start our Third Saturday Workshops beginning September 15th from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm @ Bay Area Community Church, Room 223.  Please bring your sewing machine, sewing supplies and a lunch.  We have quilt kits and plenty of fabric to get you started. Carla and I will be teaching a new tip/technique every month.

Pfaff is having a Charity Drive during the months of September and October. Capital Vacuum and Sewing Center will be hosting workshops for the Charity Drive in their store located on Forest Drive in Annapolis every Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  There will be quilt kits, sewing machines, cutting and pinning stations all available to get you started. Please come out and join us! All skill levels are welcome!
